Hey you. I know you’ve read this letter a hundred times.
Is it spring, summer, autumn, or winter? How were the stars last night? Don’t forget to look up at the sun.
And here’s what I want to say:
You’re here to experience, to feel, to laugh, to dream, to get crazy, to love. If there’s space for more, then you care, you create, you share.
You’ve done your part in this life a long time ago. Everything now is a vacation for you. There is nothing that you have to do. Be free. Be a free person.
There is only one lifelong commitment: believe in yourself and care for yourself.
Life goes forward. You will be continuously faced with new challenges, because you simply don’t stand still in life. It is okay to seek help again when you sense difficulty. It is couragous and healthy. If you’re in doubt, just think about how much you gained from this journey when you were 30 years old, and how much you treasure the learning and growth from it that you wouldn’t trade them for anything else. I know you will keep yourself in check. I trust you fully.
I know sometimes you’ll still feel sorrow. Maybe you stay up all night crying. Maybe someone is there to hold you. Maybe not. Just try to recall this moment - you sat on your blue couch writing this letter, crying happy tears, your cat half asleep by your side. You had a hard life, and you created yourself a peaceful safe space in this country that you call home now. You built a wonderful life on ruins. And if needed, you can do this again.
Sleep enough. Eat well.
Huggies.
